What to do in February
It is a month for slow visits: sights without queues (the Clérigos Tower, the cathedral, the Stock Exchange), a tasting in the Gaia cellars, then an evening of fado. For a trip for two, the six bridges cruise late in the day is nicer than in summer, with fewer people: in winter departures stop earlier (10:00 to 16:00 with Cruzeiros Douro, October to March). Events of the month
- Carnival: Shrove Tuesday is 9 February 2027. Parades and parties take place across the region; we could not confirm the programme in Porto itself, so check with the tourist office.
- 14 February: Valentine's Day; book a restaurant several days ahead.
- Winter sales: until February depending on the shop.
