Casa-Museu Guerra Junqueiro in Porto: opening hours, visit and getting there next to the cathedral
The Casa-Museu Guerra Junqueiro is a small municipal museum in an 18th-century Baroque house a few steps from the cathedral, in the historic centre. It belonged to the poet Abílio Manuel Guerra Junqueiro (1850-1923), who gathered a collection of decorative art here: furniture, ceramics, goldsmiths' work and objets d'art from the 15th to the 19th centuries. The visit is short, quiet and little frequented, away from the Ribeira's main routes.
Highlights

The Baroque house
The white façade, with stone-framed windows and two corner pavilions, faces Rua de D. Hugo. You visit the rooms as you would a 19th-century collector's home: objects are shown in a domestic setting rather than in museum halls.
Guerra Junqueiro's collection
Furniture, ceramics, goldsmiths' work and objets d'art gathered by the poet. It is a chance to see European and Portuguese decorative art away from the crowds, in a museum of Porto's municipal network.
The drawing cabinet
The Gabinete do Desenho is free to enter. It hosts drawing exhibitions and can be visited even if you do not buy a ticket for the rest of the house.
