Seven places, seven moods
| Bar | Best for | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| Curioso Cocktail Bar | A refined drink | Next to Mercado Ferreira Borges and the Palácio da Bolsa; creative cocktails, oriental touches in the decor, snacks |
| The Royal Cocktail Club | The best known | Listed in a top 50 of European bars; mixed reviews, less personal service because of its fame |
| Torto | A loud night out | Dark decor with neon and ivy; often full and noisy |
| Meridians and Parallels | Going alone | Near Heroísmo metro, outside the centre; open Sundays and until 2 am; off-menu drinks |
| Cais Nobre | A Douro view | On the riverbank facing the Arrábida Bridge; tapas, pleasant by day too |
| Eddie's.Klub | Whisky | Over 100 bottles, tasting flights; wine and cocktails as well |
| Estúdio Arte Bar | An unusual setting | Former photo studio, custom cocktails served with a Polaroid to take home |
What is the best cocktail bar in Porto? It depends on what you want: Curioso for quality and calm, the Royal Cocktail Club for reputation.
How to choose
- Calm and polished: Curioso, in the Bolsa district (see the Stock Exchange Palace).
- Lively night out: Torto, or the bar streets around Cedofeita; also read Porto nightlife.
- A view: Cais Nobre on the river, or a Porto rooftop bar.
- On your own: Meridians and Parallels has a reputation for welcoming solo travellers.
After a port
If you would rather stay with port wine, port wine bars suit you better than a cocktail bar. An evening of port and fado in a traditional venue is a good way to start the night before moving on to cocktails.
Practical tips
- Prices: not collected, they vary by bar and hour.
- Hours: only one bar (Meridians and Parallels) gave its hours in our sources; check the others on their own page.
- Getting home: take a taxi or ride-hailing car (see Uber, Bolt and taxis).
