Until the end of 2026
The 8 November marathon takes over the city; book early. In December Porto lights up: see Christmas and New Year in Porto and Porto in December.
Winter and spring 2027
Carnival falls on 9 February 2027. Fantasporto, the film festival, is usually held between late February and early March. Easter falls on 28 March 2027; Braga's Holy Week, a day trip from Porto, runs from 21 to 28 March (see Braga from Porto).
Summer: Porto's big moment
Primavera Sound takes place at the Parque da Cidade from 10 to 13 June 2027; June concerts and festivals fill the hotels. São João night, on 23 and 24 June, is the city's great party: see São João in Porto. Prices and availability are tightest at this time.
Late summer
The book fair is usually held in late August and early September (see Feira do Livro do Porto), followed by the Douro grape harvest (see the port wine festival in September).
Pitfalls to avoid
- Unpublished 2027 dates: do not book at non-refundable prices before the announcement.
- Resale sites: buy festival tickets from the official box office.
- Party weekends: central rooms go early.
