| Start and end | Infante (Ribeira) - Passeio Alegre (Foz do Douro) |
| Duration | About 40 minutes |
| Price | €6 single, €3.50 child 4-12, €8 for 2 trips, €12 2-day pass (STCP fares, sold on board) |

Is tram 1 worth it? Yes if you like vintage rides and river views, not if you just want to reach Foz quickly: the bus is cheaper and faster. Lines 18 and 22 were suspended when we checked, so only line 1 is a safe bet.
Where to board and how to avoid the queue
The Infante terminus is near the Ribeira, next to the Church of São Francisco and the Casa do Infante. The wait can exceed 30 minutes in summer: arrive before 10:00 or after 17:00, or board at the next stop.
What to do in Foz
Get off at Passeio Alegre and walk along the beach and the Fort of São João da Foz; see the Foz do Douro guide. Plan the way back by tram, bus or on foot (about an hour).
Tram, tourist bus or walking?
- Tram 1 alone: the prettiest, but short and limited.
- A combined bus + tram + funicular ticket: a hop-on hop-off pass also covers the historic tram, from about $28 according to a booking platform; see the Porto hop-on hop-off bus.
- The Tram Museum: for enthusiasts, see the Porto Tram Museum.
Practical tips
- Keep some change: the driver gives change, but not always for large notes (general advice).
- Watch your pockets: crowded trams attract pickpockets; see scams and safety.
- Other transport: getting around Porto.
