The shopping areas at a glance

Where can you buy Portuguese brands in Porto? Rua das Flores and Rua de Cedofeita.

For Portuguese brands: Rua das Flores

Rua das Flores gathers shops selling Portuguese products. Names to look for: soaps from Claus Porto and Ach. Brito (Porto houses), Arcádia chocolates and Vista Alegre porcelain. We did not verify which of them have a shop on the street: ask or look up the store before you come.

For designers: Cedofeita and Miguel Bombarda

The Cedofeita and Miguel Bombarda district mixes galleries and designer shops. For books, see Porto's bookshops.

For chains: Santa Catarina

Rua de Santa Catarina is the main, very busy shopping street; the Bolhão market is nearby. For Sunday opening, see Porto on Sundays.

The tax refund

Visitors living outside the European Union can claim back VAT: one source gives a minimum purchase of €61.35 in the same shop on the same day (another says €61.50). Ask for the form at the till with your passport, have it validated by customs before leaving the European Union, then collect your refund. At Porto airport a Global Blue point is in the departures area after security. Check the conditions on the official site before you go.
