Car, tolls and drop-off
Allow about 3 hours of driving between Porto and Lisbon and several hours to go down to the Algarve (check with your navigation app). Lisbon-Porto tolls cost 22 to 27 euros each way according to sources read in October 2026. Rent a car only for the southern part (Lisbon to the Algarve) if you prefer the train in the north: see renting a car at Porto airport and driving in Porto.
