Café Majestic, at 112 Rua de Santa Catarina, is one of the most beautiful historic cafés in Porto. Founded in 1921, classified as a building of public interest in 1983 and reopened in 1994 after a full renovation, it is known for its Belle Époque and Art Nouveau decor: an ornate facade, a main room and a winter garden. It is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 11pm, closed on Sunday. The menu includes breakfast, tapas, salads, main courses and desserts.
Highlights

The facade
The "Majestic Café" sign is framed by two cherubs under a large arch, above the wooden doors.

The terrace
White parasols in front of the facade face the pedestrian street; the terrace is often full.
The Belle Époque room
The decor of the main room is the attraction of the place.
The cimbalino
This is the Portuguese name for an espresso, to be ordered the local way.

Tips
- Prices follow those of an upscale café: higher than in a neighbourhood café. The café's website presents the menu but shows no readable prices at the time of writing: look at the menu at the entrance before sitting down. The website does not mention reservations: ask on site or contact the café. If the wait is long, a coffee at the counter or on the terrace is an alternative, or come back at another time of day. Hours may change: check them before you come.
How to get there
Rua de Santa Catarina 112, 4000-442 Porto. Metro: Bolhão station (lines A, B, C, E and F), a few minutes on foot. The café is on Rua Santa Catarina, very close to the Bolhão Market.
